New Media....WHAT THE HELL IS NEW MEDIA?

For survival in this evolving business landscape, one must create brand consistency online and find effective channels through which to disperse impact messaging. This is the goal of new media, and this is the language working its way into every conference room of forward thinking businesses around the world. The next question becomes, what do we do about it? To efficiently tackle new media strategy you need an army for research, brand development, design, messaging, promotion/marketing and analysis. Utilizing experience and numbers in establishing an online marketing plan becomes the affordable effective choice.

Guerrilla & Viral Marketing

There are cutting edge advances in analyzing web traffic, specifically social network and blog/message board populations, to directly message your target demographic. Utilization of these tools combined with effective messaging about your brand will be your key to success in the online marketplace. Creating a buzz in these communities takes more than direct business to consumer marketing…to truly get customer engagement it needs to be word of mouth, from consumer to consumer. And it needs to be done on a mass scale.

SUBSET M represents an array of clients, from top tier recording artists, to Sundance award-winning films and various corporate clients. Our goal is to provide you with content to keep you informed and up-to-date about new things that are happening within our company and with our roster of clients.

Stay in touch and tell your friends that may need the information, and we'll bring you the latest in the fight for brand awareness online. We are part of a media revolution, and it is our goal to be proactive for our clients rather than reactive to the changing environment.

Keaton Simons - Can You Hear Me
(released June 10, 2008)

Finding an artist that poses a triple threat through singing, songwriting, and instrumental talent is a rarity these days. So it is especially noteworthy that Keaton Simons qualifies as such an artist. Through his talents he has maintained a presence on stage, radio, television, and even film. Now, with the June 10 debut of Can You Hear Me, Simons has an album that he can fully stand behind under his belt.

“People can expect a very full and honest representation of me,” Simons says of his album. With tracks such as “Nobody Knows” and “Good Things Get Better”, this album resembles the bluesy-pop rock that is Simons' sound and it reflects who he is as an artist.

“Good Things Get Better,” the first single off the album, has been receiving a lot of attention. Several radio stations across the country have added the single to their daily rotation of songs, and he was recently invited to perform his single on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

The buzz surrounding Simons recently caught the attention of The Los Angeles Times, and they wrote a full feature article about him and his journey in the music business. The LA Times wrote, about his album, “It's a deft effort at capturing Simons' unusual and versatile sound. The songs include delicate, jazzy ballads and powerful blues numbers, peppered with elements of Elvis Costello, Eagle-Eye Cherry and Lenny Kravitz.” His album has also received attention from Hybrid Magazine, Arts Weekly, Philadelphia Daily News, and Pittsburgh Daily News, all writing rave reviews.

Keaton Simons is definitely the artist to watch out for. Recently finishing his CBS record release tour, he now has fans scattered across the nation. If you haven't heard of him yet, just turn up your radio and you'll be grooving to his bluesy-pop rock in no time.

LISA LAVIE (r&b/pop)
MySpace
| YouTube | iTunes
Few artists can say they've gained recognition based solely on their raw talent. Few artists other than Lisa Lavie, that is. To say that this Montréal native is an Internet phenomenon, which she is commonly referred, may even be a slight understatement. In just over three days, Lavie's video for “Angel” received over 1.5 million hits on YouTube, sans any outside media promotion. On top of that, her debut album Everything or Nothing was released on iTunes on May 13. In two days Lavie reached #20 on the iTunes Pop Charts and #70 within the entire iTunes entity.

When discovered by Ben Margulies, who assisted in the writing and production of Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album, it was clear that Lisa Lavie had a musical capacity unlike the mainstream. Her music has already been featured on the big screen in The Guardian and Stick It. Pair this with over 10,000,000 views on MySpace and YouTube; it's amazing she had no help. Let's just say you're doing yourself a favor by reading this article.

ROSE ROSSI (pop/rock)

With Rose's creativity and music, she is becoming the artist everyone is talking about.

KARMINA (pop/rock)

The difference between Karmina and many other pop artists today is their genuine talent. The ladies of Karmina, Kelly and Kamille, write their own music, play their own instruments, and produce much of their work. The skill and determination that these sisters possess is evidenced on their newly released album, Backwards Into Beauty.

The album has received great acclaim from fans and listeners, being called “a true rare musical gem” (iTunes). It is said to offer a wide range of emotions in its content, with optimistic hits like “The Kiss” and slower ballads like “Stay.”

Kelly and Kamille have taken part in a number of television appearances, most recently featured on Access Hollywood early this month. They were also able to showcase their impressive musical talent and captivating performance skills on national television, on The CBS Early Show's Second Cup Cafe and CW11's WPIX Television.

FIELDS OF FUEL (Sundance winner for "Best Documentary of 2008")
Official Movie Website

Most Americans know we've got a problem: an addiction to oil that taxes the environment, entangles us in costly foreign policies, and threatens the nation's long-term stability. But few are informed or empowered enough to do much about it. Enter Josh Tickell, an expert young activist who, driven by his own emotionally charged motives, shuttles us on a revelatory, whirlwind journey to unravel this addiction—from its historical origins to political constructs that support it, to alternatives available now and the steps we can take to change things. Tickell tracks the rising domination of the petrochemical industry—from Rockefeller's strategy to halt ethanol use in Ford's first cars to the mysterious death of Rudolph Diesel at the height of his biodiesel engine's popularization, to our government's choice to declare war after 9/11, rather than wean the country from fossil fuel. Never minimizing the complexities of ending oil dependence, Tickell uncovers a hopeful reality pointing toward a decentralized, sustainable energy infrastructure—like big rigs tanking up on biofuel at Carl's Corner Texas truck stop, a new Brooklyn biodiesel plant serving three states, a miraculous Arizona algae-based fuel farm, and the Swedish public voting to be petroleum free by 2020. Sweeping and exhilarating, Tickell's passionate film goes beyond great storytelling; it rings out like a bell that stirs consciousness and makes individual action suddenly seem consequential.

Many celebrities, artists, musicians, politicians, etc. have joined the fight and are featured in the movie including: Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Jack Johnson, Richard Branson, Larry David, Barbara Boxer, Woody Harrelson and many more.

Contests

Fans remain dedicated to ROSE ROSSI, and she wants to say “thank you.” Wanting to give something back to them, Rose came up with something fun and creative by transforming her music video “Hello to You,” into a treasure hunt for fans to win cool prizes, such as a Macbook Air, iPhone or iPod. All fans have to do is watch the video, call the number on the screen, and from there they are given directions on how to start the hunt. Fans love it and have come flocking from all over the U.S. with nearly 10,000 participants in the contest.

MIKAL BLUE is currently working on a contest that will kick off in July. Contestants will submit lyrics or song recordings on a website, which is currently in the works, and visitors to the site will judge the entries. Mikal will help produce the song for the winning contestant.

We're currently in the process of a contest that will reward one lucky fan the opportunity to spend a day with JO DE LA ROSA, which is expected to get a great amount of attention from her thousands of fans.

Show Reviews

KEATON SIMONS
@ The Plush Café (Fullerton, CA) 6/26/08

Keaton Simons gave an impressive performance at The Plush Café on a beautiful summer night in downtown Fullerton. With only a guitar in hand, Keaton confidently sang a bundle of lighthearted jams capturing the audiences' attention with his bluesy voice and guitar talents. A warm vibe surrounded the venue as Keaton Simons' utterly addicting songs resonated through the night. Not only was he mesmerizing on stage, Keaton's humble aura was evident even after his set, as he graciously socialized with his listeners and fans. His strong acoustics blended well with his laid back rasp, and Keaton has never seemed so comfortable.

ROSE ROSSI
@ The Hotel Café (Los Angeles, CA) 6/18/08

Rose Rossi played a very intimate set at The Hotel Café where about 50 loyal fans gathered to listen to her sing stories over the clinking of cocktail glasses. In between songs, Rose made conversation with her fans and those experiencing a Rose show for the first time. She gave shout-outs to friends and looked like she was having a great time on stage, which set a great tone for the rest of the night. She played for almost an hour and definitely left the crowd wanting more.
